Volume Adjustment Doesn't Work on iPod touch

I wanted to make my songs a little bit louder, and I changed volume adjustment for all the songs I wanted on my iPod to +60% in iTunes and then synced the iPod touch, but the songs are no louder than they were before. Is there any way I can get this to work so I can listen to my songs louder? Or am I stuck with the current volume?

EDIT: Could somebody move this to the main iPod touch forum?

Any ideas about this? I've tried playing the songs in iTunes, also, and it doesn't seem to work, either.

Under settings > music > volume limit, check that that isn't changed (on the ipod).
