Volume key won't change ringer anymore

I just noticed that I am unable to change the ringer level on my iPhone 5 running iOS 8 using the volume keys.

I have to go to Settings -> Sound to manually change the ringer level on my phone even though I have 'Change with Buttons' option turned on in Settings.

Please help!

Found the issue.

One of the apps that was running in the background was not allowing me to change the ringer volume. Uninstalled it and it works fine now.
