Volume Not Working after SL -> Lion Upgrade

My sounds icon on the task bar is gray now and I am unable to adjust the volume or mute, though the sound does play at about 40% (probably last setting before upgrade). Not sure what's going on and I'm done all the searching I can. Aside from fresh install, anyone know what I can do?

Try going into the Sound Settings in System Preferences and make sure everything is working there. If everything checks out, try resetting PRAM.
