Volume problem or bug in iOS 16

Hello, I’m new to iOS and I’m having trouble with a strange issue with my system volume. When I turn off silent mode, my notifications and system sounds seem to react oppositely from the volume I select, ie highest volume is lowest and vice versa. This happens whether or not I have the system volume attached to the volume buttons. I tried resetting all my settings but the problem returned…anyone have any ideas?

Same thing happening to me, apparently it's a bug in iOS that has existed for a while now and they still can't (won't?) fix it. I'm trying to find a thread on here where others are discussing this issue but I can't find anything.
