On, because it gives me some audible feedback. Plus, they need to be on for KeyVib to work. But if I want to be quiet, I just flip the silent switch.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3G (16GB, 2.1 PWNed): Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5F136 Safari/525.20)

I hate the click sounds - so damn annoying! - but I leave lock sounds on just to remind me when my phone is not on manner mode. ;)

There is a fix for this to where you can have it simply vibrate with the silent switch on and off. It just mutes the sound but allows the vibration. It's really nice.

On, when I'm not going to be annoying anyone else. I just seem to type quicker with the feedback it gives.

This. On when I'm not going to bother anyone (I think it gives me better feedback for faster typing), and off when I'm in a meeting or something.

I am simply amazed that that many people have their clicking noise ON. I am shocked. I would annoy myself even, let alone everyone around me.

Definitely "off." I don't want to attract any unnecessary attention. I hate it when I see other people yakking away on their cell phones so that the whole room can hear them, and being show-offs. I kindly respect others also. Turning off the keyboard clicks is being courteous to others. Plus, when I'm out in public, I don't exactly want to broadcast "Hey everybody! Look at me! I've got an iPhone!"
I don't think so! I hate people like that. It's a good way to get beat up ... and no, I don't live in the ghetto. If you are annoying, in any community, people will tell you you're annoying! "HEY YOU! YOUR CELL PHONE IS ANNOYING! TURN IT OFF OR GO OUTSIDE!"
(fact: in our local library, in Huntington Beach, CA, if you are caught talking on a cell phone, a community peace officer can issue you a $100 ticket) There are signs at the entrance of the library, reminding everyone. The last thing I would want to do is have my "keyboard clicks" turned on and attract unwanted attention. I use my iPhone3G in the library all the time to look things up, but I don't talk on it in the library.

I just put the keyboard clicks back on. I was running words together too often. Not hearing that i didn't add a space between the words messed me up.

I wish there was another option besides yes and no. I always have clicks turned off when I'm in public, but if I'm alone I have them on.

I recognize that attitude. YOU are one of those people! Aren't you?

hahaha, no. But there are some people in this thread that act like the world is like gonna be like "WHOA! What is that noise?! Is that an iPhone? What's that guy doing on it? Are those keyboard clicks? What's that person typing? I must know! But yet, am annoyed!"

Unless your keyboard clicks are full blast, I fail to see how someone is gonna hear them on a train or busy street or something.

But, different strokes for different folks I suppose. I'm starting to realize there are some seriously fussy people on this board ...

(for the record: 9 times out of 10, I have headphones on - so no keyboard clicks for those not wearing my headphones ;))
