I am using CheckPoint secure client to access a work-related Sharepoint server.

The VPN connection is fine but when I then try to access the URL, I eventually get an error message stating the site could ne be found. We have been given an entry for a hosts file and I have entered this in the correct place (I hope!).

My Windows laptop allows access without any problems on the same broadband connection that the Mac Mini is on.

I have tried different browsers but the result is the same.

Can anyone suggest a solution?

Thanks

Sounds like you aren't being provided a work DNS server from the Checkpoint client. I have never used one so I cannot suggest a solution.

After you entered the item into your hosts file, can you now access it?

My company requires the use of clean access, and without that, I cannot connect to anything. This is windows only program so they exclude the mac from this requirement. That is I don't need clean access when using vpn, but perhaps you VPN has something similar but did not provide an OSX version or exclude OSX.

Contact your vpn provider's support/help desk. They may have an easy answer
