VPN problems

I have successfully connect to a remote server but now cannot find the shared folders.

I have tried Finder>Go>Connect to server, using the IP address I saw on the VPN connection info, but the error message tells me:

"This file server is available on your computer. Access the volumes and files locally."

How? They do not appear on the finder sidebar...
 
Please tell what version of OS X you are using.Along explain what are you connecting to, a NAS or version of Windows or Windows Server.
