Yeah like Mazda's didn't have reliability problems with Ford's power-train

How many old Mazdas or Fords do you see on the road? Not many because they are garbage.

Which Fords have a 2.3 liter turbo 4-pot?

If you have to haul stuff even occasionally, I say get the MS3. It's as fun to drive as the GTI, but much faster in a straight line. Servicing is slightly cheaper as well. I've got one and I love it. Don't listen to the "omg-massive-torque-steer" nancy-boys, it's not bad. You can easily hold it in line with one thumb.

I made this because it's true...

It's a baby GTI!

(FWIW, in the US, since we don't have the Polo, when someone says GTI they're talking about the Golf GTI. I suppose if we ever get the Polo and Polo GTI, we will have to specify Golf GTI or Polo GTI)

And I wish they'd sell the new Scirocco in the states. I got to sit in one when I was at the Autostadt in Wolfsburg last year, it is a very nice car.

You know, some (me)would argue that this and not the Mk6 is the true GTI. It's compact, light, just as quick and has the better engine. ;)

P.S. Didn't realise you smacked up your old GTI though.

if on ocean drive, the new Chevy Camaro V6 can turn heads.

I really dont know who is selling them though. cant seem to locate many.

Camaro. If you are looking for real speed you need to get the V8. The Camaro V6 can't hold up with the Mustang V6. But I still vote Camaro.

The Camaro V6 beats the current Mustang V6( we'll have to wait for the new V6 Mustang to see how it stacks up). It's that it can't hang with the GT despite being 10 HP down.

Voted Camaro - I´m a huge fan of Mustangs, but the newest Camaro model, IMO, is one of the nicest looking cars on the road today.

You're right. I apologize. I was comparing the base Camaro to the Mustang GT (more expensive version).

Here's a good thread on the comparison between the Mustang and Camaro.

Cool. When I saw the options, I was sure that the Mustang would be leading the poll.

I'm no car nut. I like style. And the VW is one slick mofo.

I'd get the MazdaSpeed3, but could totally understand why someone would get the GTI. I can see the Camaro's appeal, but it's not nearly as practical.

I don't understand the desire of the Mustang. I never did.

So I just thought I should post back with my decision. I ended up buying a 2008 MazdaSpeed3 yesterday. It was a tough call between that and the GTI but VW's reliability is just not good enough and I cant afford to be dealing with repairs...

The Mustang and Camaro are nice and all but I play drums and need something I can easily throw my stuff into... Thanks for everyones input.

Great car. And the 08 doesn't have that stupid front end design of the newer models. Wow, that is just ugly. The same goes for the 6, although it's not as bad on that one.

yeah I much prefer the design of the previous generation 3's... It only has 13,500 miles and the price was solid so i'm really happy with it.

Mazdaspeed 3 all the way

If you want a car that has speed, great handling, reliability, and bigger cargo space, I would go for the Mazdaspeed 3. According to Car and Driver, Road & Track, and Edmunds, the Mazdaspeed 3 has always been the first choice out of the cars in the $20,000 range. They've done numerous tests from quarter mile runs to handling. In a quarter mile, this car runs in low 14's along with the 2011 Mustang V-6. Amazingly, a stock Mazdaspeed 3 is quicker than a stock V8 Mustang GT from the year 2009 and below in a quarter mile! Look it up. The V6 Camaro and the GTI are a little bit slower. The V6 Camaro runs mid 14's and the GTI runs high 14's in a quarter mile. The only thing I don't like about the new Mazdaspeed 3 is the style of the car. I like the style of the 2007-2009 way better. It depends what you're looking for. It you don't really care about interior space and handling, I would go for the V6 Mustang and if you want a car with more interior space and better handling through swirly roads, then I would pick the Mazdaspeed 3. FYI, I'm a drummer too and I'm able to fit my 5 piece drum set easily into my 2009 Mazdaspeed 3. The backseats have a lot of head room, which makes it comfortable for people to sit in. I haven't had any problems with the car =). I like how the car looks low key but yet I'm still able to beat a lot of cars and hang on with the flashy looking cars off the line.

Look at the June 2010 issue of Car and Driver. The 2011 V6 Mustang runs 14.0 and the V6 Camaro runs 14.5 in a quarter mile.

I'm a muscle guy through and through (own a Camaro myself and have for 11 years), but if you're going to get a V6 in either model, despite 300 hp, don't bother. Call me oldskool as well but those cars shouldn't be built with anything but V8s. Getting a V6 Mustang/Camaro is an oxymoron IMO. Not to mention it will never look aesthetically as good as a V8 car, with fatter wheels/tires/exhaust setup poking out from underneath, etc.

Thus, I guess go with the GTI.
