VZW Unlimited Plan required to purchase Iphone from Verizon?

I was chatting with a Apple Specialist and found out if you would like to Purchase the Iphone 6+ outright for Verizon. You must buy it directly from Verizon :mad:

i currently have a Verizon unlimited plan and would like to keep it so I will be purchasing the phone for full retail price of 849.99

You cannot purchase through Apple for full retail price. You would have to contact Verizon for that request.

To purchase the iPhone 6 through Apple, you need to be eligible for an upgrade or adding a new line of service. The only version you can buy for full retail is the T-Mobile version.

Not at an Apple store.

What if you wanted to give someone a Verizon phone as a gift? you would not be able to either?

That is correct. You would have to contact Verizon about purchasing at full retail price. Apple does not sell those at full retail price.

On the website, probably. In store (Apple Store), not. I know several people who have went and got their devices at full retail cost, some with Verizon, some without, with no issue. Again this is in store, online may be different.
 
I hope it can be done in store. Maybe some more people with VZW Unlimited Data will chime in.

I've got unlimited, but I pre-ordered mine from Verizon. Was at the Apple store Saturday, debating getting a 6 for my wife, and they said it'd be no problem to pay retail, so they don't have an issue with it (the one here at least, and the others that many others have posted being able to do so at). It's the carrier stores (Verizon, etc) that seem less willing to sell at retail.
 
Thanks for the info.

I think I'm going to give it a week and see if I can obtain one at a Apple store before giving up and ordering online from VZW.

I got a new nano sim from them. They advised to use the new sim.
