Is it supposed to turn on always when i'm on Wifi, or only when my signal is weak? At my house it would automatically go on every time i connected to my home network. Now since i'm on vacation, I do have 5 bars here most of the time, but i'm just wondering is this why it won't turn on automatically?

At the iPhone hacks section.
I've often wondered how that wifi calling worked. Thanks for the info . I've noticed my wifi sometimes says Verizon and sometimes doesn't.

Yes for Verizon and AT&T it depends on signal strength.
T-Mobile and Sprint it stays connected as soon as you're on wifi and doesn't matter if you have good or bad carrier signal.
I kinda like better the 2nd method that T-Mobile is doing it.

Verizon wifi calling does not always turn on and stay on when connected to wifi.
It depends on carrier signal strength.
You can see it go from wifi calling back to carrier network while still connected to your wifi.
One way to always keep it connected is put it on airplane mode and turn wifi on.

Oh ok, thanks for the info! Yeah I used to be on T-Mobile and was used to it always being on.
