I'm trying to connect to my Mac Pro from my MacBook Air through the Finder to share files. Both are running 10.9.1. It looks like Mavericks has defaulted both the SMB and AFP checkboxes now in the File Sharing preference. But now when I click on the Connect As button and enter my userid and password, it won't connect (login window shakes). It will only work if I go to File Sharing and uncheck the SMB checkbox, which forces it to use AFP.

Anyone else notice this? Why doesn't it connect when both checkboxes are selected?

Did you also enable the "less secure" password storage for SMB server in the options box?

Ah, I didn't know that had to be turned on. I guess since SMB is a Windows protocol it's required, even if it's running on a Mac.

Thanks!
