The iPhone X height is 5.65 inches while the iPhone 8 Plus is 6.24 inches high. Does this mean the iPhone X is in between the 8 and 8 Plus in terms of height? I thought the X will be as tall as the 8 Plus?

It's smaller, the marketing ploy is an all screen front face which technically is true. However, they claim it's basically the same size, when the width alone makes it much smaller. You lose real estate going from Plus to X. This is just one of the many reasons why I see zero reason to upgrade till next year. X-1 or whatever they call it will have 2 screen sizes and the largest one will actually be bigger than the Plus model. So I may as well wait a year or two to get back what I currently have, which is why I always buy Plus.. I like the larger display.

Confirmed link about next years models?

I understood that although the 8 plus is a bigger phone overall, the actual screen area of the X is the same or slightly bigger than Iphone 8 plus. So you are getting the same screen real estate in a more compact package. Plus also the X has 2436x1125 458ppi resolution while the iphone 8 plus has 1920x1080 401ppi.

If this is true it sounds like while the X might be physically smaller you get more screen real estate, both actually and DPI wise.

So, I mean, if you are looking for an actual PHYSICAL bigness, sure, then the iphone 8 plus is bigger, but for what counts, sounds like the X is bigger. I mean, if we aren't working towards getting more in a smaller package, then why is technology even going forward?

Are these numbers inaccurate?

X-1 or whatever they call it....

As a lifelong Rush fan, I fully support this, and would keep that iPhone for a loooong time.

The display on the X is slightly wider than the regular sized 6/7/8, but not as wide as the plus sized models. It's taller than the regular sized iPhones, but most of this screen area is lost due to the notch, rounded corners and the home button bar swipe-up indicator. According to app design guidelines released by Apple, apps will basically see the X as a regular sized 4.7" iPhone. If you have apps that make use of the extra screen real estate on the plus sized iPhone... well... you won't get that on the X. Also, landscape mode looks pretty horrible in some cases on the X because of the notch and home button bar.

This is why I bought an 8+. I will get an OLED iPhone when they make a plus sized version.

That website is a great find.

I went through the calibration based on the 7 Plus that I have in my hand (I held it up to my screen). Then I brought up the iPhone X image and compared screen width and height of my 7 Plus to the image on the screen. The reduced display width of the X was noticeable. But then, I opened a MacRumors article on my phone, and shrunk the web page by pinching in (and holding) until it was about the width of the X display. In doing that, I found that the readability difference of the text was pretty negligible. There's a difference but it's not a whole lot.

I think I will be fine with the X. There will be a little adjustment, but I'm going to love everything else about it enough to negate that. And really, the main reason I picked the Plus these last two generations was for the dual camera and higher resolution display. The display size mattered but was secondary.

Will be waiting for next year's model when it's hopefully bigger. Just bought a Samsung Note 8 to hold me over!
