I was planning to get the iPhone SE 4 for my father when it is released next year.

The election threw a monkey wrench into that plan.

With Trump planning to impose tariffs, the prices of iPhones (and most other things) could go up significantly.

By the time the iPhone SE 4 is released, it might be much more expensive than expected.

That got me thinking that maybe I shouldn't wait for the iPhone SE 4 to be released and should buy the iPhone 16 right now before the tariffs go into effect.

"A bird in the hand is worth two in the Bush." No, wait, that was a couple of administrations ago.
No matter. As a father, I'd want it now.
I think the tariff "tax" is the least of our problems in the coming years.

I would buy the 16 now since I agree that prices are supposed to be much higher next year.

2 iPhone 13s in the house. Get the 16 now before tariff? we aren't unhappy w/our current phones. But verizon would only cost $2.75/month for 36 months. Essentially $100 to upgrade our phones.
