Agreed. The iFixit battery replacement quality is excellent.
lol they are doing the best, but a battery replacement for a product wchich they still sell! can take a month. Such an amazing service from almost trillion $ companynope. It was an extra service. They are doing the best they can.
Other companies wont even do that.
This is a first world privilege. What's an utter fiasco is the lack of peace in Syria or Israel and Palestine or the ever rapid climate change or any number of actual real problems. The process was an utter fiasco.
Apple is trying to sell $ 29 for its own fault. This is unacceptable.
Hahah people get used to paying money. Apple loves such customers. Also sold in China for $ 2.People like a good deal. Everyone jumps in on it because its cheap.
I asked the genius and he said they would need to wipe my phone for the battery replacement. My local Apple Store won't even take an appointment right now. Booked solid for weeks, every day, every time slot, and they won't open up dates on calendar that are further away. So frustrating. I told them I don't mind waiting a long time, just let me make an appointment, they won't do it...

Wait, if you get the battery service done, they force you on to the newest OS?
The process was an utter fiasco.
Oh please. Apple doesn’t even pay their taxes.
Hey a lot of talk on here about this, can someone answer this?
What happened when you use to bring in an iPhone for a battery, they would just take your phone and give you a refurbished one immediately to take home. Do they not do this anymore?
Second, I was hoping with the 6 being discontinued, they would replace my 6 with a 6s. Is Apple not doing this anymore?
From what I gather, now you go in, and order a new battery, come back when it comes in (however long that takes) and then sit at the store while they actually open your phone and swap out the battery?
I have iPhone 4 from 2011 and battery can last 2-3 days with normal use and also, the most important, I can using it on whatever the cold weather is.Still have my 4S from 2012, use it every day, and have never had to replace the battery.
Issue #1 Poor Battery Quality
All batteries degrade but higher quality batteries degrade slower over time usually after 2, 3 or more years while low quality batteries degrade after 1 year or sooner.
Issue #2 Bad Engineering (Defect) or Engineered for Obsolescence
When batteries lose capacity they normally just have shorter battery life between recharges but don't prematurely shut down at ~30%.
Issue #3 Used Car Lot Ethics
Not even cheap off-shore phones resort to secretly throttling performance to force you to buy a new device. It doesn't get any lower than this.

#3.. it wasn't designed to force you to upgrade. It's just the opposite. It makes the phone last longer by, you know, working.
Apple doesn't "secretly" make batteries go bad. They all do that. Apple was trying to keep from having your phone just randomly shut off at, possibly, an important time. What's worse, a phone that's slower than when it was new, or a phone that randomly shuts off when you need to call 911? Hmmmm.False.
#1 human behavior learned since childhood when a device becomes very slow is to buy a new device to replace it.
#1 human behavior learned since childhood when a battery is shot is to replace the battery.
If Apple secretly makes the symptom of a shot battery appear like the device is running very slow then people will be deceived into buying a new device when all that was needed is to replace the battery. Add to the deception is Apple misdiagnosing people's battery and claiming it's fine when it's not. And, even refusing to replace the battery when the customer is willing to pay for battery replacement out of pocket. When a customer is cornered like this without knowledge of the secret throttling their only recourse is to buy a new device.
Only a criminal thinks this is acceptable.
I set an appointment for a new battery three days ago. I'll be getting mine today...
[doublepost=1520000987][/doublepost]yep. they are replacing for anyone that demands it which means a bunch of folks with fine batteries are choking up the system. they should have required that you actually have a consumed battery since they say that the software doesn't kick in until then anyway. mark the price way down to like $9.00 to cover labor, if not even free.
Maybe there is a reason for battery replacement being offered to everyone that we don’t know
I’d rather have my phone give me a pop up alert to replace my battery soon before throttling than being throttled without knowing for months to years.Apple doesn't "secretly" make batteries go bad. Why can’t a phone last longer without throttling?? Can’t I use iPhone for 2 years without replacing battery without throttling? I didn’t know that. As far as I know my iPhone 4 and 5s never needed a battery replacement for well more than 2 years without throttling. Do you think they should’ve just chosen a better performing battery for 6&up or design iPhone to fit bigger battery or something. And why do we have to pay more money for this?#3.. it wasn't designed to force you to upgrade. It's just the opposite. It makes the phone last longer by, you know, working.
$29 batteries are being offered because people are whiny. I guess I should go to the grocery store and complain that my bananas went bad too.[doublepost=1520000987][/doublepost]

Or was this option not available for Apple because if they did that we would be getting the pop up after only 6month after purchase possibly due to the hardware/battery issue?? Maybe that’s why $29 battery replacement is being offered to everyone??

I said batteries. Parts that go commonly go bad over time. Like the battery in an iPhone.
I didn't realise iPhone batteries are only good for 18 months. I guess you and I have very different expectations.
