What are you thinking, in terms of both the fourth casing option as well as "unexpected" surprise?

The unexpected surprise with the Apple Watch would be the casing if that _is_ something that would be true. The only real rumor that’s been indicated has been additional health sensors, increased battery life and a larger display, but I’m sure Apple will have something that was not rumored or discussed. Or, Maybe they offer an additional casing color option as well. If they were offering an additional casing, I think it would fall somewhere between aluminum and stainless, perhaps titanium (Obviously a guess). Apple invests a lot into their metals throughout their product line with the MacBook, iPhone, Apple Watch etc.

My point is that Apple has made sudden, unexpected changes to their other product offerings in the past. I cited a couple of examples. There are more that could have been used for better or worse. Apple doesn’t care what you’ve already spent on accessories - and any additional watch bands purchased are accessories - as they will move their design and technology forward as they deem fit.
You make a good argument for your point there. The counterpoint would be that the apple watch isn't really like any previous gadget apple has made; it's a fashion accessory in addition to all the other things; a way to express yourself, as apple has called it. And the way to do that is largely through various colors and materials wristbands, which they charge quite a bit of money for. Even just a strip of rubber costs €/$50, some of the leather options cost more than twice that, and the milanese loop and steel link band is how much again? Isn't the link band more than the cost of the watch itself?

I'm hoping that apple realizes that changing the lugs on watchbands would mean that a lot of people would naturally hold off on upgrading their watch, because they don't want to lose the use of their existing collection, which they may have paid hundreds of euros or dollars for. I've only bought three bands ever for my watch, one of which I wore out and threw away, and if I lose the use of my other two bands (the original rubber sport band I've retired, because it was too heavy and clammy to wear), well, I'll just eat that one because I'm a gadget nut. I really need an upgrade to my OG watch. But if I'd had a dozen bands like some people do I'd be kinda upset I think.

Apple should really avoid upsetting loyal customers; that's not good business practices!
