I REALLY want a Video Ipod 30 or 80 Gig but im not sure if i should wait.. Because i would be pretty darn mad if i got one for cristmas but then a new one came out.

Or if i didnt get one and nothing happened and i had another mp3 player (I was getting a sansa e200 to hold me over) But i really want a ipod more but dont want something that ends up outdated soon.

When do new ones normally get announced.

Who knows. There is really no set time for iPod announcements AFAIR.

A good rule of thumb. Purchase what you need, or in this case want, today. Otherwise wait until something comes out that you really want.

If you use your iPod for music and can use the new features, get one.

If video or smart phone apps are more your thing then wait till Feb.

Febuary! I was hoping January at the latest. I actually would use it mainly for music and podcasts but if they come out with a full screen one i would be mad beause with that i could enjoy video.

since the iPods were updated not so very long ago I don't think there will be a major update of em next macworld.
Let's guess for something big but not really an iPod.
iTV, iPhone, iSomethingelsebig ....
I plan to hand over my 2 year old iPod to my nephew at christmas and buy a new 80giga for myself. Maybe I will wait until after macworld, I can stand a couple of weeks without it and I expect a pricedrop or a minor update nevertheless.

Everyone says now is a bad time to pruchase for Apple products... Because... why? An updated processor for macs, updated iPod? Buy an iPod now, and forget about it. Who knows? They could introduce the new iPod tomorrow! Everyone says to me, "don't buy A mini now, prices could go down, and it'll get a better processor!" Personally, I don't care. If it does what I get it for, I don't need the latest and greatest thing. Same with iPods. If you buy one now, and they come out with a fullscreen in January-february, whatever, your iPod still plays videos, right? Who needs a fullscreen?
