I dont think you need to worry. When apple says delivery date is 26 okt it will be on that date. In my experience they never delivered later but only earlier when possible.

About the apple trade in "offer", do people use it ?
Basically the price that apple offers to take back a current MBP, is it close to what you can get through other ways, or much less ?
I have a late 2016 13" Touch Bar MBP 16gb RAM, upgraded CPU, apple offers €380 for that (maximum, pending acceptance/test on their side), is that a fair price ?

Usually, you can do better with third-party vendors such as sellyourMac or similar.
I got $2k for my maxed out 2019 i9 w/64GB ram through a third-party vendor. Apple, I believe, was only offering up to $1,630.
However, when I sold my recent series 6 watch, Apple actually came in better than the third-party vendors.
You really need to shop around. Just realize as the days move post announcement, the value drops as more people take advantage of trade-ins.

Thanks for the info, and I didn't really understand from the apple web site if there is really an advantage is doing the trade in in the same trasaction as buying the new one or not, do you know about that ?
(if the price is "about" right I might just go with apple to save time)

Wanting to pull the trigger on a base 14" model but unsure about 512GB storage. I edit video, so I'll almost certainly be editing off an external hard drive some of the time. At that point, could the transfer speeds between the drive and the MacBook become a bottleneck on the insane performance of the M1 Pro? Or does it not work lik that?

Curious, whilst I impatiently wait on a promised delivery date of 9th November, to see some benchmark estimates of just how much better the user experience will be on the 2021 MBP 16" M1Max 32ram/1ssd vs my mid-2015 MBP 15" I7 16ram/1ssd?
Geekbench rates the overall performance of my current m/c at 927, and it has stood good comparison with the 2020 MBP 16" Intel.
Of course I paid a lot less in 2017 for the 2015 model from Apple than I have just shelled out to Apple for the 2021 model.
I also not that the laptop upgrade from 15 to 16 inches will have a smaller footprint, although with all that extra beef it will be a tad chunkier.

Depth: 9.73 inches (24.71 cm)

I think I'm going to pull the trigger on a 14 1TB, but hesitate on the CPU and RAM
CPU : probably M1 pro 10/16
RAM : either 16 or 32 (+460€ ouch !!)

It probably is, at least if you're doing serious work and/or a lot of multitasking. Although the price is ridiculous.

If you're going for 32GB RAM, the extra €230 (EU price) looks like a no-brainer for me. I won't use the extra 8 GPU cores, but in 5 years' time, the extra memory bandwidth is going to pay off.
I just checked Apple's trade-in. It's completely ridiculous. It's so ridiculous it's offensive. I have a 16" with 5500/8GB, 64GB RAM and 2TB. Apple wants to give me €870 for it. I paid over 5 times that amount, just a year and a half ago. Seriously?
Does anybody know a good site to sell mac laptops with FR keyboard? I have 2 (late 2013 13" and this 16") I'd like to unload by the time the 14" arrives...
You are overseas so I can't really help you. However, a simple Google search of "sell Apple products" will bring you up third party retailers that will most likely give you a much better offer. Before you use any of the sites, do another Google search on that specific retailer for reviews. Last thing you want is a retailer that will jerk you around in getting you paid.

Good tip, thanks. I saw people mention sites in the US, which is handy for you but they don't work for us here. Good thing the keyboard is shared between France and us, little Belgium, so I get a bigger market. I looked at eBay where German macs are selling pretty well, but not certain how well that does in France. So, a bit more research work to do before I can sell.

The problem is that, at this point, there have been so many people selling their Macs to these companies that there is no longer any demand.
So, yes, the price you got months ago prior to the announcement was pretty high. After the announcement it drops significantly.
That's why I sold my 2019 16" MBP two months prior to the announcement yesterday. I maximized on price. I also had to resort to using my iPad as a computer in the interim, but it has surprisingly worked out quite well.
Finally!!!! Instant buy.
If only this had come out 1-2 years ago so I could have enjoyed it though all the endless lockdowns we had.

They're offering me... €29. Not kidding!
Smart guy! I was considering listing it on eBay a week ago. Two months ago, eBay prices for sold 16" were €2K upward. It's quite possible that there is a temporary dip because of oversupply, and it will stabilise again around something lower, but more reasonable. There's also lots of people using the 2016-2019 generation who will want to upgrade, not just 16" users.

is 8 core M1 MBA and 8 core MBP 14 inch base model have identical CPU part? (I know that GPU unit is 2x bigger on a MBP)?
I have an M1 Air, 1 tb. The internal SSD gets 3,000mb/sec (Consistent Blackmagic Disc Speed tests). I have a Samsung T7 1tb w/advertised 1,000mb/sec. I've never gotten 700. For $400 per tb or less, you get 7,400mb/sec speeds. And my Air NEVER gets hot, or throttles. Ever. Dead silent. By all reports, the M1 Pro's fan cooling systems is nearly as silent. As a musician, this scores a lot of points. Really think about that though. With a 2tb SSD on board, I don't NEED external SSD's, other than for storage; or organizational purposes ... A LaCie external SSD, 1tb, advertises 2800mb/sec. Their reputation is great. The price is $399. My money goes to Apple's 7400mb/sec internal drive. Good luck!
