Waiting for 27" Quad to SHIP thread

October 28

Did anyone order before Oct 28 and is still waiting? I still have zippo,nadda nothing! Well not true I have logged 20 hours+ time on phone with Apple!
 
My i7 with 8gb ram has shipped!!!!!! I ordered it 11/13 and it shipped 6:20am this morning. I'm supposed to get it by the 24th, this will be my first ever apple computer.
 
Just got an e-mail from Apple saying that the delivery date has been pushed back from the 20th to the 23rd.. I've ordered the 21st and am still waiting for my i5, Time Capsule and printer to arrive at my doorstep in Holland.. 😡

The order status page still says the 20th though...
 
Can somebody explain this to me, please...

Shanghai, then Cologne and now Incheon? I'm a tad confused. 😕
 
The UPS website lies

It's been a few pages or so since I've posted, mostly because nothing interesting has happened until today.

I woke up this morning to a glorious UPS tracking message. The one I'd been waiting for since Oct 22th. My iMac has arrived in Ottawa. It's almost home! Even the "Scheduled Delivery Date" line in my tracking info read 19/11/2009. The stars were finally aligning.

Then things changed again.

Around 9:00am it was obvious that my iMac didn't make it on a truck for delivery this morning. I called UPS and they told me that my package will arrive tomorrow (Nov 20th). I told her that my tracking info on UPS.com says that it will be delivered today (Nov 19th). She said that my package was scanned into Ottawa but it hasn't been pulled out of the trailer yet. That will happen tonight so it'll be sent out for delivery tomorrow. She didn't know why my tracking information online (which she also confirmed seeing on her side) said the 19th and offered no solution/reason/answer. Just that it will arrive tomorrow... not today as promised.

After some back and forth she finally opened and case file to have the local depot supervisor call me. I have my doubts on whether or not that will happen and I'm not holding my breath on his/her help with actually obtaining my package today either.

I also offered to pick it up myself but she said the trailer is jammed full and its not possible to dig through to find just 1 package. The trailer won't be opened until late this evening.

Essentially, all I'm asking for is my packaged to be delivered on the date they've told me. That's not a crazy idea is it? Wait, we're taking UPS here. In their case it is crazy.

Time to update my letter to Apple encouraging them to switch to FedEx.

Mine shipped this morning through fedex, it just depends on where you live.

I'm also exited to see the good results from Geekbench aswell, where it practicly is equal to a Mac Pro.

But the 27" screen with the IPS-panel, I think it was the most beautiful display I've ever seen..

It finally made it. Can't friggin believe it.

I was almost to the point of running out in the street and start searching every white truck that went by, just to make sure Fedx didn't slip past me.

Just ran geekbench, first thing, in 32 bit mode, scored 8285, with a stock configured i7. Gonna add more ram soon.

For those of you still waiting, it is well worth the wait. I upgraded from a 24" dual 3.06, and this machine dwarfs it.

Gonna spend a little time playing with it before I head off to work, but so far, no flickers, or scratches, absolutely perfect.
The tiny little keyboard and mouse are gonna take a little getting used to, but gonna give them a chance.

I have received items from Apple via FedEx to Canada in the past.

I would much prefer they ship everything with FedEx as I believe their service to be far more superior to UPS

Same for me..I think The cologne thing is they getting your customs data in advance, to be able to process it quicker when it passes through.

And as for Shaghai - seoul - shanghai and the Seoul again, if we look at the time, it's just info being posted a bit random.

I think.
I hope.
I will have my i7 by tomorrow (Sweden).

It finally arrived today. Plugged it in, pushed the power button, heard the reassuring sound... And then didn't see anything. I push the increase brightness key. Still nothing. Hear a voice say, "English."

I call apple. Tech support says try powering on while holding [Command][option][p] and [r]. (I think.) Let go when hear the second Sosumi (is that the name of the sound?). Check. Still no picture.

Replacement should arrive Nov 30 - Dec 4. Ouch.

Ouch. That's not good news at all. Sorry to hear about this Ben. Mine just arrived about 20 minutes ago and it's very cold to the touch. I'm going to let it warm up a bit before I turn it on for the first time.

To follow up on my earlier post, my iMac has arrived. UPS did put it on the truck for delivery but they just never scanned it as such. Isn't that how shipments can go missing?!

That brings me to the end of this saga. Thanks for letting me hang out. Best of luck to you all and hope you enjoy your new toys! 😀

Makes perfect sense. Your system was shanghaied by a guy wearing cheap cologne, and now its moved and inch on its journey. 😀

PACKAGE DATA PROCESSED BY BROKERAGE. WAITING FOR CLEARANCE / BROKERAGE RELEASED SHIPMENT. SHIPMENT IS SUBMITTED TO CLEARING AGENCY FOR FURTHER CLEARANCE

First brokerage, then to a clearing agency. What could this mean?
 
my i5 story

here is the story of my i5 purchasing experience

Ordered a C2Duo on the 10th
Got jealous of the people getting quad core machines
Cancelled the C2Duo and ordered a stock i5 online from the uk HE store 8.30 on the 12th.
Change to prepared for shipping bout 12 on Weds 18th.
Shipped later that day.
Delivered today 19th by UPS bout 12pm.
So less than 7 days from order to delivery.
All set up and in use right now.

Thanks, bro. Appreciate it. Definite bummer. Probably the worst part about it is the comments from my Wintel friends, who claimed it as "another strike against Apple." 😛 Whatever, they can live in their bubble...

Cologne is where the customs clearance brokerage is located. The actual package went from Shanghai to Incheon, Korea.
