Man, I'm convinced your problems have nothing to do with Apple.
What are your thoughts on keeping the iMac until they fix the screen issue and then sending it in for a replacement
I have a big brown box sitting in my cube right now. It's going to be a long couple of hours.

Okay... I ordered my 27" i7 on Jan. 5. They slipped the date to Feb. 4 but it arrived today by 10:00 am and it's gorgeous. No tinted screen. No cracked glass. Just a slick fast beautiful machine. I know have four iMacs running on my network, starting with an old "ET" iMac, each one still going strong, each a little faster and bigger, but this one's a beauty. I added four more gigs of memory and it flies. Since it is replacing the household TV I can't wait for tonight to watch an instant Netflix movie.

OK, so I tested my week 5 i7.
Again: i7 standard 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD
Ordered: 01/14/10
Shipped: 01/28/10
Delivered: 02/01/10
Regular shipping (not priority).
I just tested it for a few hours. I did the "yellow tint" test from the big thread here, I ran pixel checking software, I tested the iSight camera with photobooth, I hooked up external speakers, I ripped a DVD movie with MTR, I watched half of a movie, I streamed Pandora, I tested all the USB ports. My checklist I've posted here before, with my results:
1)Screen - Stuck/Dead pixels - NO
2)Screen - Flickering screen, with brief blackouts - NOT SO FAR (A FEW HOURS)
3)Screen - Yellow smudge at the bottom/elsewhere - NOT THAT I CAN SEE
4)Screen - LED backlight bleeding through in corners when screen is dark/black - NO
5)Screen - High pitch whine from screen at max brightness after 30 minutes; also after turning down brightness by 30% - NO
6)Screen - Dust or fingerprints trapped behind the monitor glass - NO
7)iSight - Dead pixels - NO
8)iMac as external monitor function not working - HAVE NOT TESTED
9)Noisy HDD - clicking or whirring, rumbling and whining - NOT SO FAR
10)Constantly running fans at high volume - NOT SO FAR
11)Intermittent hiss from external speakers hooked up - NO
12)Frequent beachballs, despite not many programs running - NO
13)Slow boot up - NO
14)Random self generated restarts while using Firefox - NOT SO FAR
15)Airport problems - NOT SO FAR
16)Bad USB ports - NO
General remarks.
The HDD is a Seagate. I intend to mount this iMac on an articulated arm, and when I do so, I'll review the arm in the appropriate thread. It will be a while before I post pictures, because I lent my friend my Nikon D300, but eventually I'll post pics of the arm and the screen to show no yellow problems (that I can see). The screen is a bit more reflective than I'd like, but such is life. YOU DO NOT WANT TO THINK ABOUT HOW THESE COMPUTERS ARE TRANSPORTED. I received mine through FedEx. Bless their hearts, but I guess those are the realities of transportation - the box this computer came in, has seen some hard times. One of the styrofoam corner-blocks inside was cracked clear through - and that sucker is thick... must've seen some hard knocks, I reckon. I'm not surprised there are a lot of cracked screens out there. Fortunately, mine is fine.
Oh, and I'm typing this on the new iMac - marvelous. Now I'm gonna mount this sucker on the articulated arm. Adios!

This is what I would do, at least wait until they have replacements in stores so that you do not have to wait 5 weeks.

You are a one lucky guy. I need to know how you ran all these tests. What softwares and stuff like that. I wont be getting mine till feb 18th but i want to know before hand. Pictures and a video would be nice!!!!🙂🙂🙂

Bah... My replacement week 5 i7 arrived this morning. Yes it has the yellow tinge. This one has it on the lower half of the screen and a little bit from the center up to the top. This is the sixth iMac that I have had with this issue. I'm burnt out on exchanging these things. I'm just going to keep this one and have it repaired whenever Apple implements a fix.

6th? I have the feeling you've been replacing it with models of the same batch over and over again. YES, just call them, tell them you have work to do and would like to get it fixed later. They will write it down in your Apple Care file and you wont have any problems.

ohhh great...that's just great.
Coming back with bad news. I've just recieved my i5, after a full month of nail biting and ripping hair, there she was the most beautiful machine.
And after reading countless threads about yellow tinge and flickering, the fear was high but in the end, a big NO to all.
The problem i'm having is this mind grinding buzzing / static or electric kind of sound in the top bottom.
When does it disappear? when it's full bright, although there might be a slight remaining buzzing. Would i be ok with this? Maybe, if it wasn't for the fact that i can't stand this much bright in this or other monitor.
Resolution: i reduce the brightness, BUT the buzzing / static / electric kind of sound starts right away.
I guess the only thing to do is send it back, isn't it?

Oh man that stinks man. Do you think there is something in there? Maybe if you blew compressed air in it would stop?
Thats bad luck 🙁 Sounds like something apple can fix easily for you tho, hopefully youll get it back quickly from repair

even tried to speed up the fans with smc control fan, nothing. can't see compressed air resolve this, but if it does, how so? 🙂
Repair? i got it today, my all room smells like fresh equipment ( 😀 good ) lolol, not going to repair but it's going to replacement. (does anyone thinks different way?) every help is more then welcome 🙂

Got mine today, screen is great, no yellow! Also the hard drive is a lot quieter than my old one. I got a bit of a shock when the UPS guy dropped the box on the floor right outside my door. I was getting ready to drop him 🙄

Did you call Apple to have it expedited. This is confusing why california and not china. Check your invoice: what week is it?
You might get a yellow screen from a replacement though. If everything is ok otherwise id get them to just fix the problem at hand. You might be waiting ages for a replacement too.

Week 48, 43, 46, 46, 53, and the current iMac is a week 05. I'm going to call them today so that I can document the issue with Apple. As long as I know they will fix it at some point in the near future I'm okay with keeping this one. The issue is clearly not going to go away by repeatedly exchanging these iMacs.
