AMD Arcturus based GPU - 2020
Intel Sappire Rapids 10nm, DDR5, PCIE 5.0 - 2021
Intel Granite Rapids 7nm - 2022

As long as Apple follows that, Mac Pro would be in good shape.

they have a framework now to update the thing as needed. Like every other functional computer company on the planet. They should of waved the guy who invented the 6,1 macpros head around on a pike during this talk.

We'll know if this is true, if the MP8,1 is announced in a year.

Next best thing, they didn't let Phil out of his cage for MacWorldSF19.

In MP5.1, it was possible to update the CPU tray. I do not see it is posible in MP 7.1. It means, yo pay crazy price now and you are stuck with PCIE3 and 1 CPU only.

It will come in space grey and be more expensive than you could imagine.
Stay tuned until fall 2026.

Pretty much all my hope is lost in Mac Pro or any possibility of decent headless mac.
So right now, all I want is Mac Mini with decent descrete GPU.

Based on trends we can expect 8,1 in 2025 and will have a trashcan form again. It will cost $18,000 and come with a 256gb ssd.

In 2031 Apple will re-learn from the mistakes of the second trashcan offering and offer a modular MP again. 9,1 will come in 2031 and cost $75,000 and still have a 256gb ssd.

Just because this is MacRumors Mac Pro Forum.

I say:

  • Same as 7,1
  • Half the cost
  • Non-ugly

Thanks

Stop this wishful thinking. There is a higher chance Apple will move to 2 iPhone cycles a year than reduce the cost of the Mac Pro by half.

Mac Pro 8.1 is a good 4-6 years away and will probably be priced a bit higher if Timmy is still in charge.
