I think makes even more sense to have a wireless touchbar keyboard, since when we are working with our macbook pro in dock, we have this thing close and we have external keyboards..

I think the majority of users of laptops don't bother with an external monitor - the number of people on here who do probably aren't representative of the wider public. It might also explain why Apple got out of the display game.

Having got used to TouchID on the MBP in particular, its very much missed when using the laptop in clamshell mode, as is the touchbar. I'm hoping that the new iMac will drive the need for a new magic keyboard with touchid and ideally a touchbar built-in as well.

Either the original supply was really low or there was in fact a healthy demand for monitors as seen by the shipping dates of both the UltraFine 4K and 5K... I love my Logitech K811 but a TB external keyboard would be very tempting.
