I'm at my local apple store and am 2nd in line! There's also a sign that says "limited quantity starting at 9am"! Now let's just hope they have my 32 gb wifi in white!

Anybody else having good luck?

Where are you?

Went past my local Apple store(West 14th) at 6:45 and there was about 150 people on line. Most of them asian, an overwhelming amount.

Well those people are screwed. I just called w14 store and upper west side store. Both of them have no ipad today.

this is ridiculous! we are all supposed to forego our lives and jobs and wait in line every morning hoping to spend $500+?!?!

I really dont see how there could be stock restraints. Apple should have already had 3 million or so ready to go on launch day. it just doesnt make sense to me! How many units are manufactured daily? 40,000 of them!?!? At over 300 stores worldwide, thats 133 ipads per day they could be getting delivered. And since the ipad isnt even available worldwide that number should be greater. I just dont see why Apple is having this problem.

"Supposed to"? Your priorities are a bit questionable if you feel you are supposed to go wait in line and forego your job and life.

Just order online, or wait a few weekends and pick one up in a store. It'll slow down in time, be patient.

UTC - San Diego recap...

About 50+ ppl in line when they started handing out tickets. 24 iPads at this location today... Mostly Verizon and WiFis. No AT&T (surprise!).

Walked away with the 3rd to last 32GB black WiFi ticket.

Met a guy who came straight from Fashion Valley... 24 tickets... 25 people in line. Pretty surprising turnout for the "flagship" Apple store.

Thanks for the update. I'm looking to get there around 6 AM Saturday morning and wanted a feel for local stock. Only want a 32 GB Black Wifi as well.

You haven't taken into account non-Apple stores like WalMart, Target, BestBuy, etc., or online retailers, or orders from the Apple website itself. Plus, Apple has to be stockpiling on at least a moderate degree if they want to launch internationally in eight days.

Are your production numbers accurate, though? It would be interesting to calculate all of that if they are.

I'd suggest getting there around 4-4:30am and you should be guaranteed an iPad. They had quite a few 32GB black wifis. It honestly wasn't that bad of a wait.
