Waiting in line! (3/17)

I'm at my local apple store and am 2nd in line! There's also a sign that says "limited quantity starting at 9am"!

Do all Apple stores put up the sign so at least people don't have to wait around for hours if there is ZERO stock??

Well those people are screwed. I just called w14 store and upper west side store. Both of them have no ipad today.

Geez. The Android tablet makers are missing a HUGE opportunity here. You have hundreds of people lining up at Apple Stores every day for several weeks. Why not set up portable Android tablet booths nearby. I'm sure they could sell a fair amount just out of sheer frustration buys. They could also use the opportunity to gloat that they have plenty of stock.

Not saying I'd ever buy an Android tablet, but just seems like a missed opportunity.

I'd suggest getting there around 4-4:30am and you should be guaranteed an iPad. They had quite a few 32GB black wifis. It honestly wasn't that bad of a wait.

I thought about it, but with the fog being as bad as it's been in the last few days, I'd rather for a little daybreak. If I wanted a 16GB, I'd be there at 4 though

Can't believe there are still lines.

Perhaps you haven't heard that the Japanese electronic component industry is in major flux right now. Through no fault of Apple, the supplies are likely to get a lot more limited in the near future.
