I installed OX 10.7.4 onto my Mac Mini 2.4 GHz Intel core duo and afterwards discovered that Apple had abandoned support for it's USB modem. Anyway, I was able to work around this by adding the MotorolaSM56KUSB.kext and SM56KUSBAudioFamily.kext from my Snow Leopard install disk. I can now see the external modem and have been able to receive faxes etc..

The problem I have is that the 'Wake when the modem detects a ring' function does not work.

I have the WOR checked in the energy preference and my pmset is:-

    Active Profiles:
    AC Power -1*
    Currently in use:
    autorestart 1
    powerbutton 1
    panicrestart 15
    hibernatefile /var/vm/sleepimage
    ring 1
    networkoversleep 0
    disksleep 10
    sleep 4
    hibernatemode 0
    ttyskeepawake 1
    displaysleep 3 (imposed by 405, 404)
    womp 1

I have seen conflicting docs from Apple stating that the modem does not receive faxes if the computer is in sleep mode and some that say it is compatible with WOR.

I have searched extensively with no success, but have come up with a theory. When the computer is in sleep mode the power to the USB port is disabled. Could this be the reason? If so is it possible to keep the usb ports active when the computer goes into sleep mode.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
