Wait a minute. .

I just got the 5S, and I thought that everyone told me I could wake this baby up with the Touch ID scanner?

It seems to me you still have to push the button, and then you can only unlock it with the thumbprint.

Is this true??

everyone lied to you. you have to wake the phone with the sleep/wake button or the home button.

it is most convenient to wake it with the home button then leave your finger there to unlock the iPhone.

I just got a 5S and I just long press the home button (but not long enough to activate Siri) and it wakes my device. You do have to press the button though, just resting your finger on it won't wake the device. From what others had told me I assumed you'd have to first wake the device and then rest your finger on the home button but with the long press I'm able to wake the device and unlock it at the same time. Very cool.

As has been mention....

Press down on the home button that starts the opening process, release it a tad bit, but leave your finger on the home button until it opens so your ID can be recognized which lets you in. Does not take long, and really no big deal

How is this tweak on battery life though?

When I had it I would probably say you lose 5% of battery life throught out the whole day but most people wouldn't notice. I liked how it can wake your phone but the tweak got annoying for me because I naturally lay my finger on home button and it exits out of the app.

Everyone? Sounds like selective memory to me... :D

There have been many threads on how it's necessary to press the home button first (unless you JB and use the suggested tweak).

App is called VirtualHome. Works fantastic. Makes full use of the fingerprint scanner. Just touch and the phone wakes up and unlocks. No button pushing at all. Also if you leave your finger on it from any app , it'll pull up all open apps running so you can switch between them or kill them. Must be Jailbroken though. One of the best tweaks I've seen.
