In the sys pref>security>general>require password to wake ....

Using 10.5.1 on Intel core2duo 2.0g iMac

When I use this function it takes a significant amount of time to actually go to sleep. The first time I tried it, it took so long I did a forced restart with the power button.
I have been monkeying with firewall settings if that makes a difference.

Is this normal????

Weird. Sorry mate but I don't have Leopard so I can't test it on my machine. Does it go back to normal sleep time when you take this setting off? Do you have FileVault enabled? What sort of peripherals do you have plugged in? :)

I had that option checked for awhile on my Core Duo MacBook running Leopard (before I became too annoyed having to type in my 16 character password 100 times each day) and that behavior is NOT normal.

It will sleep normally when I put the mouse in the assigned corner, but takes a solid minute+ when I use the pull down menu. Very strange.
