I'm trying to figure out how apps like MacID and Rowmote are waking up the Mac via bluetooth, but I'm left scratching my head :(

Does anyone have an idea? I would appreciate it greatly!

They simulate your mouse/keyboard moving. That's how they manage it. What is the issue? Is the app doing it when it's not launched? If so it could be the apps notification system. Turn off all notifications for the app and that should solve the issue.

Thank you for the reply, but the Mac app is not receiving any of notifications from the iOS counterpart although it shows that it is still connected.

I'm currently trying to wake the Mac up by simulating a key press but it doesn't seem to respond when the computer is in sleep state...

...what do you mean turn off notifications?

Sorry I thought you were saying the app was waking your Mac without you wanting it to.

Any idea on what I could try to achieve a similar result as those apps?

Have you got wake for network access enabled in the energy saver settings?
