Use a rewards card with Apple Pay
At participating stores, you can easily receive or redeem rewards using Apple Pay. Add a rewards card to Wallet and use it when you pay with Apple Pay.
  • If you turned on Automatic Selection on the pass, place your finger on Touch ID and hold your iPhone near the contactless reader when asked by the cashier or the terminal.
  • If you didn't turn on Automatic Selection on the respective rewards pass, open the Wallet app. If your iPhone is locked, you can quickly open Wallet by double-clicking the Home button. Tap the rewards pass you want to use, then place your finger on Touch ID and hold your iPhone near the contactless reader.
Your rewards card will be applied to the purchase, and payment will be made using your default payment card with Apple Pay. Some merchant terminals might be set up to request your rewards card separately from payment. At these merchants, only your rewards information will be applied at first, then you can pay using Apple Pay after the cashier or terminal requests payment.

Heck, when you get older, you'll have to buy lots of prescriptions. Guess what? Those tell far more secrets about us than their knowing what kind of chewing gum we like.

Does HIPPA seriously not cover prescriptions? I would have thought so, but I guess I don't actually know. That's super depressing.

Too bad Walgreens' Apple Pay integration is broken. My iPhone said the transaction worked, but the Walgreens register had an error. Had to resort to plain old credit cards.

I had an issue with my Discover card - it was looking for a chip or something - my other old school Visa card worked perfect over Apple Pay

When will the rewards NFC be turned on? I want to switch back to the regular card cause right now it's just another tap. It was easier to have the cashier scan it.

Well, I came to find out that there were apps for the stores that I have rewards cards for that seem to offer the ability to get access to a barcode that can be scanned through the app, so that's an acceptable alternative for me, combined with using a phone number as well. I still think I'd like something that worked directly through Wallet and could be used via NFC at the pay terminal but I don't mind waiting until there is a better adoption rate. Gotta see how I can handle the library card, as well as the credit cards next.
