Walk ins getting phones before preorder

I’m struggling to comprehend why Apple or carrier stores would have stock for walk ins when preorders are still waiting. There should be absolutely no stock for walk ins until after preorders have been received.

How can this decision be justified?

It's always been like that. Watched the pre order threads and all the frustration when I was able to walk into a tmobile store and walkout with 4 7/7s last year 2 days after launch.

they were embarrassed by the ghost town image during the 8’s release. So the preorder stock went towards the in store stock.

They are a business. They have stores. They have to have stock. I love that so many pre-order. After I waited up to the wee hours to pre-order the 6 Plus and had a rough day at work I decided never again. With the 6s, 7 and X I just woke up the morning after launch and reserved one for pick up.

It’s called hype...BS
