Drove to Verizon this morning and waited for them to open. Was the first and only one there LOL.. and managed to get an 8 64GB gold at full retail. I don’t know what their stock levels are, but chances are if you walked in today you could get one.

ETA: Don’t mind the typo in the title. Meant to write “walked in and got an 8 at VZW this morning..”

Yeah 256GB seems like it's the one everyone wants. I ordered at 9:48am Friday on Apple.com and have an expected ship date of 9/26. :/

Very interesting. The SIM Free version of the 256GB 8 has a shorter shipping time than all the other models. Guess I was lucky I didn’t want the 256. Ha
[doublepost=1506090085][/doublepost]Oh and you will get charged an upgrade fee if you buy at full retail even if you aren’t “upgrading” your current phone. Sucks.

I don't know how much you really care at this point, but I was able to get two 256 8+'s at an Apple Retail store today, with no preorder. You might have some luck, if you want it before the weekend.

My Verizon store had both the 64 GB and the 256 GB version. But only the space gray in the 64 GB version. My store opened up around 8:30 AM, I arrived at 9:40 AM and there were still a number of phones left.

Nice. Did you buy it outright or did the monthly payment?

Nice!! My iPhone 7 got the $650 trade in credit from last year so I’m keeping my 7 and just paid for the 8 in full, that way if anything I have a back up phone to use. Hate to pass up essentially a free phone.

I got my 7 Plus with 128 GB free from the Apple Store last year. Between getting 6S Plus off my account, getting loan approved, then trying to get it activated on Verizon three hours passed. The store couldn't print the receipt, so the manager gave up, gave me the phone for free, threw in a case and $50 gift card. I'm waiting for the X.

It took my wife and I 3+ hours to get our iUP phones May 2016 in store. I could not believe how long it took.

Took me 5 mins to do an early iUP upgrade on Apple.com on Friday last week (a new iUP loan). lol.

WOW free phone :) Nice. Apple Stores work hard to keep our business - mine sure has.

Which can get “waived.”

I guess I will try again. Tried to chat with a rep this morning which said he talked to his supervisor but his supervisor said it was a valid charge and we have to pay that every time we purchase a new device on the line. Have you gotten it waived in the past?

Wow, that is awesome. Sucks that you had to wait so long, but I feel like Apple is the only company that will do that for their customers when there’s an inconvienience.

It was so funny when she said that they couldn't print the receipt and said the phone is yours to keep. I said I'm not leaving without a receipt. She then said "you don't understand Mr Richards, the phone is yours to keep for free". I said "say what?" She repeated again. Forgot to mention Apple Care was thrown in for free also.

What?!?! Man.. sucks that I live about 2 hours away from an Apple store otherwise I’d go there for everything. Would love to just experience it one day.

Don’t ask for the fee to get waived. Chat online or call. Explain that you’re a loyal VZW customer and see if you can get a bill credit for that amount. Much easier for CSR’s to do.

Ah thanks for the tip. Did not know that it can be done that way. What do I answer if they ask what I want the credit for?

Just be polite yet firm. I’ve always had luck stating that I’ve been a Verizon customer for a long time and have had good service, but that I have a choice, and I feel like I’m being punished for remaining with them.

So I look on My Verizon and I see that there’s a $30 credit on my next bill, so whatever I said earlier worked I guess. I’m glad that they take the customer’s word into consideration now and aren’t so money hungry like in the past.

One of the reasons why I prefer to buy sim-free model from Apple is that I can just take the sim card from my old phone and put it into my new one at no charge.

If they see that you have had multiple activation fees waved in the past they usually won't wave them. At the end of the day it is a valid charge weather you agree with it or not (and I am not saying I agree with it). Usually they only wave them as a last resort if they think you will leave Verizon and you have a ton of business with them.

The iPhone 8 & 8+ are not rare. You can find them in stores or quick ship times.

I have a feeling the iPhone 8 models are going to become forgotten like the iPad 3.
