I do have Walkie Talkie enabled on my phone. Sometimes the walkie talkie icon at the top of my watch faces flashes once for a second upon waking the face and disappears. Other times (less often) the icon stays there all the time.

What causes this?

Thank you so much!

Useful link. It does mention that the icon is there for quick access to walkie talkie when you set yourself to available -but sometimes the icon only flashes for a second (literally) and other times it stays on. With the former you cannot be expected to tap it in time to open the walkie talkie app like you could the latter.
I’m wondering the difference between the flashing icon and always on icon.

I believe it flashes to let you know you are currently "Available" in the Walkie Talkie app. It stays on when the app is open and running in the background.

When will there be a walkie-talkie complication to add to a watch face? Hopefully in an update in the near future

The complication should be available through the Watch app. I have a modular face set up with a walkie-talkie icon.
