Can you say EPIC FAIL?

BERLIN - Fans hoping to glimpse U2’s free concert celebrating 20 years since the Berlin Wall fell were outraged Thursday to find that a 12-foot metal barrier was installed to block the view for those without tickets.

Both Berliners and tourists alike saw the irony in building a wall around a concert dedicated to the wall that has already come down.

haha epic fail indeed, though it's only fitting now, the accumulation of wealth is beyond anything now so not exactly suprising

I wonder if they will also machine gun those trying to scale the wall to get into the concert.

Too funny... they should do what Chi-town did for Obama's election night rally and put up some screens so people can have a street party. They handled that one fairly well. More recently, Chicago had a grand opening of their Holocaust museum, and Bill Clinton spoke, and they went through this elaborate business of signing up online and waiting to be granted tickets, and then it turned out that the tickets were not even for entry to the opening ceremony by him, but rather one could stand outside in the winter on a rainy day and listen to it on speakers, because accessibility was limited to "VIPs" ....

This sounds like a job for...

Oh. I've always thought of free concerts in terms of Woodstock -- open air and who ever arrives first. Man, I'm getting old.:p

Lol. I take your point, but tempus fugit, as they say.

Agree completely with yg17, (and everyonbe else) it is indeed, an epic fail, but one which does not surprise me, unfortunately.

Cheers

Achtung, as long as you're on the right side of the wall......baby.

That's Rise of the Copyright Wall

How ridiculous. Brilliant irony though.

I keep noiticing that while Germany is very efficient, clever and organized, that it often comes with the price of complete control freakery, even over the most trivial things. My personal experience with this is limited but that's what I've heard and observed. Seems to fit in this situation.
