So I see the wall mount option for the mini is essentially a different base with holes in it drilled to the wall. Could you essentially drill the bottom cover to the wall and produce the same result?

I saw the same thing. If you aren't concerned about resale (and even if you are, I'm sure you could find a new base), then buying that particular wall mount seems like a waste.

That's what I was thinking. Literally drill two holes in your base, attach it, then lock the mini back on to the base. 60 bucks saved.
