Guys - just bought an apple watch for the 1st time. When I go to wallet to add some credit cards from my phone, it says Apple Watch requires a passcode on Apple Watch. When I go to passcode section, it has wrist detection turned on and everything else greyed out. Should I uncheck wrist detection? Btw I did add a simple 4 digit passcode during setup

Thanks

It did not, I guess the initial setup procedure didn't work as expected. Should I turn off wrist detection, then set passcode and turn wrist detection back on? Thanks

Yeah it sounds like it. Maybe reboot the phone too just in case.

I turned wrist detection off and it still has the other options greyed out. Anything else I should try or just do a factory reset and set up again?

Thanks

I had the same problem when I first set up my S9. No idea why.

I unpaired and repaired the watch. Give that a try.

Hi all! @etaleb, same problem here!

After contacting Apple Support, I fixed the problem:

- Connect iPhone and Watch
- Close all apps in the background on iPhone
- On iPhone, go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Disable Content & Privacy Restrictions
- Go back and close all apps in the background
- Open the Watch app on iPhone and go to Passcode: you should now be able to activate the passcode.

After activating the code and adding the cards, you can re-enable the restrictions in Content and Privacy Restrictions.
