If I change my desktop wallpaper (to one of the stock wallpapers or to one of my own pictures), then restart the computer, the computer starts up with no wallpaper, just a dark grey background.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I've googled this issue and it seems it's not entirely uncommon, but I haven't seen any fixes.

This is happening on my 15" M3 MBA running 14.4.1.

Thanks for any comments or suggestions.

Updated to macOS 14.5 and problem still happens - not just upon restarting, but also waking up from sleep.

None of the tips in the makeuseof article help. The instructions for deleting the database file don't seem to apply to macOS 14 & higher.

The problem persisted, regardless of everything I tried.

But it went away as soon as I installed macOS 14.6 RC last week.
