iPod touch Wallpaper on iPod Touch

My grandson just purchased a new iPad Touch. His wallpaper only appears on this lock screen and then disappears when he unlocks - is this correct. if not, how does he get a wallpaper on the main screen?

Home screen wallpaper is only available with the latest operating system iOS 4.0 and only on current version 32\64GB touch models.

Yeh only with the 3rd Generation Ipod Touches and the same is Multitasking the 2nd and 1st Gen don't support it

Home screen wallpapers are not supported on the 8GB iPod touch. It also requires iOS 4.

If the device is not brand new (3rd Generation), or if it is an 8 GB, you cannot have home screen wallpapers, multitasking, or bluetooth keyboard support.
