To people saying "Just disable perspective zoom", it doesn't help much on the iPad. Portrait is passable, but landscape is still a nightmare. I know it needs to find a safe zone that will work in both modes, but still... It is a huge, HUGE, chore for me to find a wallpaper that looks the way I want. Something may look beautiful in portrait, but then it zooms a ton for landscape, then I have to go back to the drawing board and look for a new wallpaper. This can go for over half an hour sometimes when I am looking to find a new wallpaper and then I just give up and use an Apple default that doesn't zoom in portrait.
It's not science rockets. If you want to create parallax wallpapers for these devices, use these resolutions.
iPhone 5 : 1040 x 1536 pixels
iPhone 4s : 1040 x 1360 pixels
iPad Mini and iPad 2 : 1424 x 1424 pixels
iPad 3 an iPad 4 : 2448 x 2448 pixels

The only way to avoid the crazy zooming is to set your wallpaper in portrait mode, then pan it over to the right a couple of swipes. There are two huge bugs at play here.
1. In landscape, the wallpaper zooms in WAY more than it does in portrait.
2. No matter what wallpaper you set (other than apples, weird) in portrait the zoom is less but it's panned over to the left, which causes that extra zoom when turning to landscape.

Please don't post false info. Your dimensions are way off. I make tons of wallpapers and the dimensions are as follows and you can confirm this all over the web.
iPhone 5/5S: 744x1392
Retina iPads : 2524x2524 (as of iOS 7.1)
I feel that there needs to be a class now or something on how this all works since it's about to get more complicated with new iPhone sizes coming in a few weeks. A search for retina wallpapers shows results all over the place.
You may be correct. These dimensions I found on the internets. I will search for the dimensions you posted to verify.
The info I posted comes from BGR.
