So, is anyone going to try to take advantage of this deal?

I never been black friday shopping before, but may give it a shot to get the $300 off. If the lines are insane and everyone is killing each other I will pass.

Just curious if anyone else is braving the crowds for this deal and if so, wear hockey pads.

I would never go to Walmart on black Friday. No exceptions. No amount of money is worth what goes on there. I have been there once when my cousin forced me to, never again. Credit card price protection is where it's at.

Its am MESS!! Have you seen Jingle All The Way and the scene where Arnold is trying to get that doll from the toy store? Yea that is what Walmart is like!

Just an FYI, it's not $300 off an iPhone, it's a $300 Walmart gift card. And a lot of times they were emailed/sent to you after the purchase. So as far as I know you cannot apply that to purchasing the phone. I would double check with them on the FinePrint.

If I was buying an iPhone other than the X - I would go online and go the Target route - $250 Target gift card vs $300 Walmart gift card but for the $50 difference is the peace of mind of not dealing with the holiday Black Friday crazy people for the same stuff that was in stores weeks ago

I bought my 11 year old son a 128gb iPhone 6s from Verizon last week used a promo code for $100 off and stacked it with the veterans promo of a $200 gift card -net price $229. He wanted that with a Stephen Curry case.

Target’s deal can be reserved online but still has to be picked up and activated in store. So you still have to deal with the lunatics LOL.

True but I enjoy being in a Target store more than a Walmart store if I have to be in either

Good point! For me the closest Walmart is about 5 minutes away and the nearest target is about 20, so I never really think about them. I’m actually headed over there in a couple minutes myself so I can get an 8 Plus. I called earlier and verified the $300 gift card is given after the purchase so that would’ve been a nice chunk taken off of the price of the phone. But hey, $300 is $300

Update:

I went against your advice and trekked out to walmart. They staggered their sales at different times so no lines. I walked in around 6pm and the frenzy began. I went to the phone line, and waited 5 minutes. However, they only had 64gb silver X so I left.

Oh well. Good luck to everyone else.

I am still traumatized from Walmart Black Friday in 2009 when my aunt wanted to get a new Tom Tom for her car and I said I would go with her so she wouldn’t be by herself. Had never done a Black Friday before at any store. Thought it would be fun... I now know what the apocalypse will look like...

Nope. Nothing is worth that. Nothing.

I'm in my Walmart waiting to get my 8 Plus activated. Got here at 5:50, nobody in line reserved what I wanted, 8 Plus in 64g Space Gray. Gotta wait a bit more to activate it. Maybe 20 more minutes.
They only had 2 Plusses in stock in Space Gray and 6 of each color regular 8's. All 64gb and no iPhone X at all. Not that I wanted one, but kinda lame inventory if you ask me.

$300 worth of beef jerky baby! J/K, it'll just go towards Christmas presents.

Did you get the $300 on the spot?
I guess once I pay for the phone then they give it to me. Would've been nice to save $300 on the phone though.

I try to avoid going to Walmart on any given day.
It isn't good tonight, could be worse I guess. The way it was set up I was the only one at the cell counter, the first to reserve my phone. I checked before, they can't activate it unlit 8, but that's 10 minutes. No biggie.

If you were planning on getting one and shop at Walmart why not get yourself $300?
I think it's a great deal and it's really not bad at all.
I bet most time people spend is about 30-60 minutes. Well worth the offer;)

I called my closest Walmart last night in Buena Park and they won't even have any iPhone X in stock. I called the one in Brea and they told me they will have them but don't know how many or the color. Called them twice. The last one an hour ago the guy told me there is already a line for it. This is 2+ hrs before making an appointment at 6pm and 15 people are already there. Hell, no. I expect their X stock to be in single digits.

I think the Verizon deals via bill credits is a better deal. The Pixel 2 at 50% off makes paying for it only $13.54 monthly or $325. It's only 2 mm taller than the X with 4 GB RAM, 1080p, similar battery life as the XL, and better camera. It isn't plagued with display issues like the XL. No all glass rears. It's better than an iPhone 8.

I guess X wasn't meant to be but another Pixel just might be.

I am not a fan of Black Friday's and have yet to go out and shop those days. I believe these stores save up stock just to pull people in on BF..thus short changing regular customers earlier in the week by saying they have none in stock. Then supply is always limited and they give gift cards rather than money off imo. I like saving money but you can't pay me enough to risk getting pushed around in these stores fighting for material goods.

Funny my Target had plenty of stock on Tuesday and Wednesday night now this morning limited quantities of the iPhone 8 Plus / I bet it is limited

If you want to find the X, a random Walmart might have 4 in stock at best if they even have them.

After the Walmart employee told me there was already a line in the electronics section that was half an aisle long, I just laughed and told him it's cool. I'm not going to bother. I was only willing to give it a shot if it wasn't going to be a hassle. Well, it's Walmart. It usually is.

My choices in order is XZ1 Compact, Pixel 2, and then X.

Agreed, its like something out of The Walking Dead.
Definitely hard pass.

My son-in-law went to Walmart... no iPhone X models to be had, and it was the typical Walmart mayhem... went to Target... no iPhone X models, either... he went with the 8+. Target was more civil... his quote "people do Black Friday at Target... animals do it at Walmart".

My guy is working a side job as security are Wal-Mart. He said people are really crazy over saving very little. Ah well, hope your son-in-law enjoys his new 8+!
