Walmart preorders are a joke, and always will be.

For those of you that got refunds, could you post your store number? I went to my local Walmart today and was told the cards are non-refundable (even though I was told they were when I pre-ordered). I am going to speak to the general manager and it would be helpful to show him examples of other walmarts giving refunds. Thanks.
 
Sorry you had to go through all that. I too had tried the Walmart route when I had miss the preorder window. The lady at AT&T told me not to wate my time coming in because they wouldn't have more than 30 phones on launch day. I called 3 diff walmarts 2 were clueless and 1 said yes we will have them but its first come first served no preorder. So on Launch day at 7:30 I called Walmart n was told they never got shipments n it was supposed to be delivered last night. Long story short I went to another AT&T store 5 min from my house only 50 people were inline at 7:45 am n I walked out with my iPhone an hour later..... To hell with Walmart'
 
In the same situation. 2nd on the list at my Wal-mart. They call me on Friday the 28th say it is in. Get there and it is of coarse not on the system yet. So they put it in stock and begin to ring it up. Well it isn't working. I say what is the model number and look it up on the internet. It shows up as a Verizon phone. So off I go. Before we even started I asked them to make sure it was at&t so we didn't have to go through the hassle.

I was able to obtain my iPhone 5 through personal pickup thanks to the many people on here. I was going to use the pre order at Wally World for my wife. The wait continues. I can not believe that they botched this so badly. I can understand not on the day of the release but weeks is getting a little ridiculous.
 
Never ever ever preorder from anyone outside of Apple and your phone carrier. Thats the lesson I learned with the 4.

Let's face it though.. Wal-Mart is pretty much a joke. :eek:

Wow, I can't imagine ordering stuff from Wal-Mart would be problem? :rolleyes:

Usually the first sign of the transaction going south is when the Wal-Mart employee has his/her finger 2 knuckles deep in their nose, and their first response is "Ummmm..."
 
Walmart called me the Saturday after release but I didn't answer since I camped out Friday for one. They called me again yesterday to tell me I can pick up an iPhone.

i just despise walmart, they are a greedy evil corp (i know most are) walmart tells their employees to get medicaid so, since they wont give them enough hours to get benefits in training.. they will schedule them all an hour shy of it. I heard that if they charged every customer something small like 5 cents more a visit then they could afford to pay all their employees to start out at $12 an hour. it may have been more. just things like that.

sorry to rant lol yeah jobs set it up.. but i despise them regardless

I wanted to save 40$ pre-ordering from walmart. I guess I now have to wait weeks to months for my phone. I have a iphone 4 in good working condition so I'm not too bitter about it but I probably won't pre-order from walmart next time around unless they could guarantee I receive a phone.

Sorry, I don't have the receipts readily available but the store in Rancho Cordova, CA is where I bought the cards and ultimately returned them. They are not gift cards even though the cashier instructions on the back state that the cashier should treat them as such. It just seems that they have no reason to keep your money if they can't deliver on the deposit you have made.

By the way, I ended up getting our new phones in the Bay Area last weekend. Used the Apple Store app on my phone to place the order at 10pm when store inventory updates and was in and out of two stores within 15 minutes. Yes, two stores because my wife wanted a white phone and only a couple stores had them while the black phone was a little easier to find.
