I personally can't wait to read the posts from all the self proclaimed iphone experts posting all their insulting comments about the walmart workers in the phone department. I am sure these posters will be waiting for the store to open just so they can get their morning shot of feeling worthy to have an iphone.

I can't believe the fact Walmart is selling a phone is drawing so much negativity.

What apple should be worried about is the negative press that will be generated by the lack of functionality of bluetooth and MMS.
It will be interesting if Walmart starts seeing a high rate of returns and low sales.

I think it only became official today -- today is the first day I saw the public announcement covered in the press.

I remember how excited I was when Walmart began selling the iPod, because it meant I could finally purchase one :)

Walmart represents all the negative sides of capitalism and reflects racism of American society, hence anything Walmart should draw negativity.

With that said, I bought some cheapo Christmas decorations from Walmart!

So what are the actual benefits of buying in Walmart exactly? Identical price, identical contract, I'm not seeing the excitement.

It's two dollars cheaper and the people helping you set it up know less about the product than you do.

The latter half of that sentence is the standard recipe for excitement! Or humor, at least.

I don't get what the big deal is -- WalMart's not gonna sell them without a contract, right?

Yep, the people at Apple are idiots. They are doing this just to annoy arrogant, self righteous, Walmart haters who post on Internet forums.

    Apple Stores - Approx 240
    ATT Stores - Approx 1,800
    Walmart Stores - Approx 2,500

Well, the only benefit for Apple is that they can reach different kind of consumers and markets, that were unreachable to them selling the iPhone only through Best Buy and their Apple Stores.

Good sir, dost thou flame me?

I thought that by using walmart there may be some benefit to the customer financially but obviously not, just a way for more people to be able to buy it now.

Yes I agree. Maybe walmart should model their business plan like the auto industry or better yet the banks.

Sure Walmart isn't perfect by any stretch of any imagination.
