    My iMac specs:

    Model Name: iMac
    Model Identifier: iMac7,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 4 MB
    Memory: 1 GB
    Bus Speed: 800 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: IM71.007A.B00
    SMC Version (system): 1.20f4
    Serial Number (system): W87330FUX85
    Hardware UUID: 00000000-0000-1000-8000-001B639A3186
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT

    Version 10.6.8

I want to know what the cheapest but most effective upgrade I can do for my Mac to game better. Note that the only game I really play is Team Fortress 2 and I want more frames per second on it.

Any help would be appreciated

Upgrade the RAM to 4GB or Sell it and buy one with at least a HD4870.

Note that that computer will actually take 6GB of RAM. You just need a 4GB and a 2GB stick.

For TF2 you'll probably need to drop down to a lower resolution than native.

Really, there's not a lot you can do to make a 2007 iMac better at modern games. Trust me, I know..
