Hey folks. So how do I do different passwords for iCloud and for iTunes?? I have reason to believe my (soon to be ex) wife is receiving some or all of my messages; obviously this is through the cloud somehow, yes/no?. We have always shared the same iTunes account but I have no earthly idea how she has her phone settings or cloud set up. I use the same Apple ID and password for both the cloud and iTunes.

The other day I went in and changed the password which obviously changed that password for everything. Now her phone is kicked out, which was the goal. However, she has requested I give her a password so iTunes will work. I have no problem with this as long as it's just the iTunes.

Is it possible to set up separate password to the two items? Will this achieve my goal of keeping her out of my iCloud??

Or do I need to use a separate ID to accomplish my goal? I have my @me.com address that I'm not currently using. Can I just add this as my iCloud ID and keep her out?

Thanks for any tips or advice.

You're in a bit of a pickle, if you intend to continue sharing what is commonly bought iTunes media over the period of time you've been married.

For me, I use my iCloud (then .Mac/MobileMe) account for my iTunes ID. So long as your iCloud Apple ID is NOT used for iTunes, you'll be okay. Otherwise they share passwords and to my knowledge do not have a way of separating the two.

If I understand you right, I can use separate IDs, and thus by default separate passwords and that'll accomplish what I'm trying to do?? Not worried about the media down the road...could care less. Ultimate goal is making sure she's out of my messages (and contacts/calendar/notes/etc)

If you don't care about the media, just let her have the account and create a new one for you. Less hassle. Could or could not care less? If you couldn't care less, I'd just create my own account and start over. Before I did that, I'd export all my contacts, calendars, notes, bookmarks, and reminders, using the URL below, and create them with a new iCloud account.

OK, so that doesn't accomplish the desired objective. Yes, I can use a different Apple ID for iTunes and for iCloud, but they both still retain the same password which like I mentioned, defeats the purpose. Am I missing something or is what I want just not possible??

I don't think this is possible at all. I think it's the same password for both iCloud and iTunes so either sme makes a new one or you do. Or you both just start a new one and somehow share that old one.
