This holiday I was confronted with wanting to make a CD of some programmes on the Radio.
I have access via streaming, but how to capture them.

This solution worked for me so I thought I would pass it on.

What you need;

- iMac
- a 3.5mm stereo phono lead (3.5 mm stereo phono on each end)
- Audacity audio recording software (free download).

All I did was connect the iMac 3.5mm phono line out to the 3.5mm line in on the same iMac.

Then I started a new file in Audacity and selected the default input.
Next I opened a streaming session in safari.

Simply press play to start the stream and record in Audacity.

The output is sent down the cable to the input, which Audacity then records.

Once the file is finished just open it with iTunes and there you go!
Easy!
Quality is very good, not perfect but very good.

There are programs that will rip the stream in digital format and not go thru analog like you're doing it. Just need to find out the URL of the stream.

Yes, I know about those, I just wanted to provide an alternative.
I was amazed it worked really and wanted to share...:)
