Sorry if this has been covered, but I did a search and couldn't find a solution for my specific issue.

To make a long story short, my wife got a new iPhone, but she somehow managed to forget her Mac password so she can't get that computer to restore her old phone backup to her new phone. So I think no problem, I will just increase our iCloud storage and she can back her old phone up to the cloud and restore from there.

But here is where I am having an issue. Back when we first got our daughter an iPod we used my old Yahoo address as our iTunes ID. We were all Windows back then and it didn't seem like a big deal. Went all Mac in 2010 or so and ended up with our iCloud address as a me.com address.

Since then the Yahoo address has become a cesspool of nothing but Spam so I don't really use it for anything. So I want to simply make my iCloud address and my iTunes address the same, both the me.com address.

Is this possible and if so, how?

In a roundabout way, you can do this. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202667#otheraddress
Also see: https://9to5mac.com/2017/10/31/change-apple-id-from-gmail-to-icloud/
Or: https://www.imore.com/how-change-email-address-associated-your-apple-id

I have not tried this. I use a .me for iCloud, and a hotmail email address for iTunes. This continues to work fine with the exception that the Apple Store app on iOS uses the iTunes account and I generally only use iTunes for App Store and iTunes purchases. If I reserve a session, or make a purchase and need to pickup at the store, the store app won't cut it if the purchase or reservation was made with he iCloud account.
