Please advise me on the best, easy option!

My husband and I want to share one MacBook Pro. We want to keep our media (~200gb) on a separate drive, not on the MacBook. What is the best way to do this?

We bought a Time Capsule because the guy at the store told me I could partition it and use half for Time Machine and half for storage. Now I am reading all over the internet that you can't do this and TC is only good for TM. I guess I could always keep the TC and plug in an external to that? And link my iTunes folder to the external HD through the TC? Should I return the TC and try something else????? I'm so confused!!!

I've got a bunch of movies stored on my TC, no partition required, just drag and drop.

Do you also use the time capsule for time machine backups?
