The GPU upgraded 27" Imacs retina or non will run all modern games pretty well at high settings or better in 1080p.

But if you want to wait a console or PC is your best option.

Console is no option

Is there an option to use the iMac as external display for a pc? (mine/thunderbolt-version) because a second screen on the table is also no option :(

That's also what I read a lot... especially unsure, if this fragile setup works, after the next MacOSX update :confused:

Not what it says, they are EFFECTIVELY limited is what it says. This is because Apple computers are still teh only ones to routinely use thunderbolt ports, not because it won't work with other PC's.
