Was wondering if the Samsung Evo 850 will fit? And if I need an adapter?

Nope. The retina MacBook pros use "blade" style SSDs. If you want to upgrade, OWC and Trancend both offer upgrades.

I don't like OWC, so I'd go with the Trancend unit.

What don't you like about OWC? I haven't bought anything from them, but from what I've seen, they seem overpriced but their customers are generally happy/satisfied.
