While I expect it would be a good game, to me it seems like it belongs on a portable platform, very GBAish to me.

I dont understand why nintendo doesnt at least try in the graphics department anymore.

Nintendo never cared about graphics as much as game experience, in every new platform they bring the same old characters in new twisted games, and people still buy them, De blob for example is one of the few 3rd party games that actually has potential on the Wii.

Thats the thing tho, even tho the games can be fun, they just seem like rehashes of the same old thing. Anyone wanna play mario party 34 with me?

I would love to, In 26 years with our grand grand sons :D

Where do you people come from? :) Have you been asleep since the eighties?

The hand drawn look that Nintendo took with this game, takes "way" more effort and time than your average 3D game these days. A similar game could have been done on a GBA, but nothing of this quality.

Nintendo strayed from the cartoon look with games like Zelda TP, Eternal Darkness, and some of their newer IPs are going the typical pseudo realism approach. But you need to consider that Mario is the most recognizable game icon on the planet. People know Nintendo for its visual style. They make games that appeal to all ages. Their games are enjoyable by any group, core and casual. Nintendo's visual approach has been hugely successfull for them. If they had listened to the side-line critics, they would have probably failed.

Mario Galaxy for reference, is currently one of the best looking games on any platform. Nintendo puts great effort into their games, balancing both gameplay and visuals. Most developers only focus on visuals, but they don't make games, they make mediocre tech-demos.

Anyone for "Final" Fantasy 13? Why is Nintendo being singled out as the only company that rehashes games?

Or Final Fantasy 13, Metal Gear Solid 4 (actually the 9th game in the series, much like Mario Party...), how many Sonics, Tekkens, Street Fighters, Mortal Kombat, DMC, Ridge Racer, GTAs?

Everyone does rehashes. Don't limit that to Nintendo. Games and series that constantly sell aren't killed off, people voted with that wallets that these classic Nintendo series and the ones above are good and therefore people want to play more of them.

Wow this is genius.

I'd love to see an new Mario side scroller like this.

New Super Mario on the DS :)
Unfortunately they took Mario Bros 1 as their start point, rather than 3 or World.

I hear that a lot, but for the most party I feel like the "Nintendo" games( Mario, Zelda, Metroid) have changed so much because of the jump to 3D. Plus the still feel pretty fresh, and Nintendo add new elements.

Although I'd love to see some new IPs!(D:DoC, Project Hammer are/were a nice start)

I'm kinda interested in that uber-camp superhero game Nintendo released in Japan not so long ago. It just looks too mad to skip out on.
