So there are a lot of Warnings this year.

#1. Don’t be fooled by the new USB-C port.
#2. Which phones are gonna be Made in India ?
#3. 1st gen 3nm chips there will be a lot of defective devices
#4. No WiFi 7
#5. Next year ProMAX will deliver a 6.9” display

1. About the speed? Most people just care about the port change I’m sure.
2. Why does that matter? China, India, etc it’s all the same.
3. Chips are tested to incredible tolerances, I don’t believe defective chips have ever been a thing for Apple or even other companies for that matter.
4. People barely have 6E and you want 7 when the few routers that do it aren’t certified and are incredibly expensive.
5. Speculation

You have baseless takes.

My predictions for this forum September 23rd-30th.
  • Hundreds of people trying to determine where their phone was made.
  • Hundreds more scrutinizing the manufacturer of components like the screen or the battery
  • Hundreds staring at the screen and comparing the shades of blue/yellow with previous years.
  • Hundreds obsessing over some imperceptible imperfections
  • Hundreds of folks returning their phone 1,2,3,4 times over the above.

Oh yes! That would be me!! I proudly wear my OCD badge of honor!!

I prefer my phone assembled and shipped out of Zhangzhou… I have a strange comfort level with that!🤣

They earned the name “iPhone City”

I always enjoy watching the shipping from there as my wife's home town is right near there and I've flown out of that airport many times.

What’s wrong with the phones made in India?
Suppliers are known to have a low yield rate:
This means the assembly process/QC there is inferior to the setup in China, it's basically like buying a Camry made by Tesla vs a Camry made by Toyota.

I'm old enough to remember: in the 50's everyone thought things from Japan were cheaply made. Then it was China. Now India. In 10 years it will be somewhere else.
Even Japan? BTW, there was Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, and more recently Korea.

What on earth does 'don't be fooled by the new USB port' mean!

It's a bloody USB port that we should have had years ago. It fits a USB cable.

Is it a trap, does it spray naked flame, or maybe it's a portal to earth5 where we're to be enslaved! What's the issue 🤔

Don't forget people using a Jewellers loupe or a microscope, I kid you not. Oh and shaking it to see if it rattles (the old style lenses which moved always did)

The regular 15 / 15 Plus will be USB-C at USB 2 speeds (same as Lightning), which is pretty disappointing. The 15 Pro / 15 Pro Max will be at USB 3 speeds, which is a major speed increase over USB 2, but some may have expected Thunderbolt TB3 or 4 speeds.

The speeds probably won't matter for the vast majority of users, but it will definitely help for anyone using ProRes on the Pros.

China has at least 10 years of making iPhone experience, Indian has none. Making iPhone is a very complicated process involves so many factories of all kinds, good luck with Indian lab testing iPhone.

If I understand it correctly the 6.9” screen actually won’t be bigger per se, it’s nothing more than changing the aspect ratio from 19.5:9 to 20:9. Basically taking the current screen and just making it a little taller. Kind of like when they went from the 4s to the 5. Nothing will appear bigger on the screen since it won’t be wider.

Why "warning"?

Edit: Actually to be fair, there were reports of only half manufactured iPhones meeting Apple's quality standards. That was less than a year ago, hopefully they were able to straighten it out.
