My 6+ has been good to me for a year and a half. Last week on the 7th, my battery drained and when I tried to charge it nothing would happen. I thought great what now. Anyways the phone would ring when a call would come in or a text messege. So i thought maybe the screen stopped working.
I was able to go without a phone for the week thanks to the apple watch that would let me make calls and send texts.

Anyways I was about to order an SE for the mean time as I really didnt want to use my available upgrade until the new one comes out. Today I woke up to unplug the phone to take it with me for a run and what do you know. The phone is working again!

Not sure what is going on? Why would it stop working for over a week and now its fine? In fact I am typing this from my 6+.

Tldr: 6+ screen went black for over a week but calls and texts would come in. After a week the screen came back on and it has been working all day.

Maybe the battery died and forced a reset?

Did you try doing one manually? (Holding the lock and home buttons until you see the Apple logo)

Have you dropped the phone recently? It could be a loose connector between the mother board and display assembly. That could cause your display to stay dark despite the phone actually "working".

Water damage can also affect the connection (through corrosion).

Generally if the connector is loose then the screen will show artifacts on the screen. If the LCD isn't plugged in or the phone screen is just dead (frequently happens after a screen is shattered to bits) when you attempt to charge the phone it will just vibrate or make the charging noise nonstop. Still a chance it is a loose connector though. I have the issue the OP posted on my 6S but I've found force restarting always fixes it and I have already had apple replace the screen once for light leak and another for a cracked screen so it doesn't seem to be a loose cable or maybe the apple store doesn't replace the screen correctly :p

Yes I have dropped my phone and it has a crack on the bottom left side. It's been there for awhile though and it didnt affect the touch screen.

So I was listening to spotify yesterday when the screen just went black again. It has not worked since. I am thinking something inside is loose. Ill probably just pay to have it repaired.

Normally I push people to the Apple Store... $129 to get a brand new screen put in.

Although, McAllen is pretty far from an Apple Store... closest one (I think) would be up in San Antonio. An iPhone is easily worth a day trip, right? ;)

Unfortunately, as far as getting an Apple-authorized replacement done (that way it has a warranty)... your only options are to drive all the way to San Antonio and do it at the Apple Store, or mail your phone to Apple.

You *could* go 3rd party, but I don't know if there are any 3rd party shops in McAllen. Plus, you won't have a warranty (most likely).

Maybe hop across the border and see what a few pesos will get you? ;)

i think the rule is if you're more than 50 miles from an apple store you can mail it in. if not apple care will suggest to visit the store near you.

Where in the world did you hear that?

i worked for apple as a technician for a few years. although i think thats mostly with desktops. that if you're not within 50 miles someone will go out to you. or for mobile devices they'll provide you with a shipping label. its stated in the terms and conditions for apple care.

Yep. That's how AppleCare always responded to me until they opened up a store in Toledo.

Strange I have about 5 apple stores within 20 miles and have never been told that.
